Even in challenging market conditions, Germany’s Solare Datensysteme GmbH (SDS) has maintained its leading role
as a provider of PV monitoring and energy management solutions. Guy Thouin, Managing Partner from SDS, lets us
in on the company’s business strategy and explains what exciting new devices we might see in the near future.
PES: Welcome to PES magazine. We already introduced your company in our last PVSEC edition and we are really interested to know what has changed in the meantime. First, would you like to introduce the company to our readers?
Guy Thouin: Solare Datensysteme GmbH (SDS) is the leading company for solar monitoring, energy management and feed-in management solutions. We have been in the market with our Solar-Log product line since 2005. About one third of our 100 employees work in R&D, and we are constantly improving our products and services to stay ahead of the competition. Currently more than 230,000 PV power plants worldwide are managed with Solar-Log solutions. We help monitor nearly one million inverters of all major brands. Our products offer a great value for our customers.
The operation is user-friendly and does not require complicated, time-consuming software installations. Solar-Log products are compatible with a wide range of third-party hardware. Our all-in-one solutions not only monitor and manage performance; they also make it possible to visualise data with sophisticated graphs and tables.
We are setting international standards for monitoring PV power plants as well as managing the generated energy and controlling feed-in regimens.
Over time Solar-Log went from being a data logger to an intelligent energy management system. Our Solar-Log WEB portal, which started as an online data visualisation tool, has evolved into a comprehensive professional monitoring tool for installers and service providers. The Solar-Log WEB “Commercial Edition” initially offered a single platform for convenient and concise monitoring of several PV power plants.
