Following an EU tender against international competition, a consortium consisting of Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG and SeaRenergy Offshore Holding GmbH & Cie. KG has been awarded a contract by TenneT covering design reviews for checking, commenting on and approving designs and documents within the scope of the project BorWin5 to deliver and construct the offshore HVDC converter platform BorWin epsilon. This involves checking and documenting project parameters to ensure their compliance with contractual requirements and the client’s technical specifications, checking the feasibility of the transport and installation concept with regard to international norms, standards and regulations, and checking and approving the “as-built” documentation. With the grid connection project BorWin5, TenneT will connect the 900 megawatt offshore wind farm EnBW He Dreiht to the German mainland via 230 kilometres of sea and land cables.
Fichtner will lead the consortium and take responsibility for secondary technology and safety-related topics within the platform support team, including conceptual consultancy services. SeaRenergy will be responsible for all structural, steelwork and T&I matters such as feasibility supervision of the transport and installation concept. The two companies have already worked together as a consortium for TenneT in 2015 and 2017. Noteworthy in this respect is a five-year operational support contract that both parties executed for TenneT. Fichtner GmbH & Co. KG and SeaRenergy Offshore Holding GmbH & Cie. KG are now looking forward to continuing their successful cooperation.
Ralf Epping, Managing Director of Fichtner, welcomes the new project by saying: “More than 10 years of experience in the national and international offshore market pay off in making us able to compete. I am pleased that we are able to work with our team on further TenneT offshore grid connection projects.”
General Manager of SeaRenergy, Johann Philipp, says: “We are looking forward to contributing to the projects with our proven long-term engineering experience!”
