Enviromena awarded a second “Highly Commended” at prestigious green awards

It’s been a fantastic week of celebrations for Enviromena, one of the UK’s leading green energy firms, as the company adds another “Highly Commended” award from last night’s British Renewable Energy Awards in London – the second in two days.

Enviromena was recognised in the Project of the Year category for its 90-acre solar farm at Horsey Levels in Somerset, which made history as the first to be energised since National Grid Electricity Distribution introduced changes to speed up connections late last year.

The British Renewable Energy Awards (The BREAs) began in 2006 to recognise the work of those pushing for change in the industry, honouring organisations and individuals that have enabled the industry to do the amazing work in the drive towards renewable UK energy security and Net Zero by 2050.

The ‘Project’ category of this year’s awards celebrates companies that have developed an outstanding project in either renewable energy, energy storage or low carbon transport infrastructure in the past two years.

This latest success follows on from another recent award as Enviromena was “Highly Commended” in the FastTrack Company of the Year category at the UK Green Business Awards, which highlights inspiring and innovative companies and projects in the UK today that are striving to build an economy that is sustainable, healthier and more prosperous for all.

Celebrating what was yet another great result for Enviromena, CEO Chris Marsh, said: “Earlier this year, Enviromena made history energising the first solar project under the National Grid’s acceleration programme. Horsey Levels in Somerset will produce 27,550MWh of clean energy per annum for over 10,000 homes, avoiding over 5,000 of CO2.

“It’s the first project in the country to be energised ahead of its original connection date under the Technical Limits programme, which has sped up project connections by an average of more than five years.

“We are immensely proud that this ground-breaking project has been recognised by the BREA and are delighted to be Highly Commended alongside Belectric. This rounds off a successful week for the business after being recognised at the UK Green Business Awards earlier in the week.”
