EUROPEAN TECHNOLOGY KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER INTO ONTARIO CANADA
Eclipsall Energy Corporation, a Canadian solar enterprise that was founded in 2009 to coincide with the launch of Ontario’s Green Energy Act, has announced a $10 million investment and launch of a PV solar panel manufacturing plant in the Greater Toronto Area. It is expected that the facility is operational mid 2011.
The company purchased a turnkey module manufacturing line from RIMAS in the Netherlands. This 64 MW manufacturing plant is equipped to meet all demands for of the North American market and competitively bring European solar manufacturing knowledge and quality into Canada. The lean semi-automated production facility, will allow Eclipsall to provide Ontario with crystalline solar PV modules. It also means direct employment to more than 90 people. Expansion is already planned.
The manufacturing concept is enhanced by strict quality measurement equipment such as the Resonance Ultrasonic Vibrations (RUV) crack detection methodology from RUV Systems and sun simulation systems, thus enabling quality output required to meet Ontario regulations. Knowledge exchange programs and experienced solar management support further enhance manufacturing quality and output. This project is yet another example of the fast growing solar activities of Rimas, as a turnkey module line supplier. Rimas combines it’s self developed machinery and technology with state-of-the-art stringer and laminator systems from Germany en Switzerland. Mark Verstraten, CEO of RIMAS, “Once again it shows that Rimas is a fast growing partner in the turnkey module line market. And we will continue our quest for market share in lean manufacturing”.
