A well-known figure within the sector, Mita-Teknik’s Jean Steen Felber is the first of our Insider interviewees. Here, he gives us an exclusive account of the Danish company and its future ambitions, as well as outlining his own background and goals.
PES: Welcome to PES magazine, can you firstly explain a little about your role, and how it relates to the wind industry?
Jean Steen Felber: I am the Marketing Manager at Mita-Teknik. Mita-Teknik has been delivering control automation for the wind industry for approximately 30 years. Our solutions cover everything from single turbines to entire wind parks. Our experience and high quality products has positioned Mita-Teknik at the forefront of the industry, given us a strong brand and it is my job to ensure that our marketing efforts match this.
PES: How did you first become involved in the industry?
JSF: The wind industry is a very big part of the Danish industrial identity. A lot of people are working directly or indirectly in the industry. When I was about 15 years old I swept the floors at a factory making motors for smaller turbines. But it was not until I joined Mita-Teknik four years ago, that I started working directly with the industry.
PES: Which part of the sector excites you the most?
JSF: I like the wind industry – it is technology driven. And in some way it is still young and growing. I like the great potential in offshore projects and in general I truly believe that renewable energy is the way to go. People within the wind industry have strong beliefs and are very enthusiastic about their work, which I find very inspiring.
PES: Is there a part of the sector that disappoints or frustrates you?
JSF: No, not really
PES: What’s been your greatest professional achievement to date?
JSF: At Mita-Teknik everybody is striving to deliver best in class quality. On my account, always seeing the Mita-Teknik brand at the top of the ladder is a huge satisfaction.
