PES wanted to know more about what was on offer from ELA Container Offshore GmbH. So, we invited Hans Gatzemeier, the Managing Director, to come and talk with us. We were surprised by the versatility of the container accommodation on offer, which in a very short time, can be customised to suit the customers’ requirements, should the off the shelf ones not be suitable. Hans is very optimistic about the future of the wind industry. Read on to find out more…
PES: Hi Hans, welcome back it’s good to talk to you again. As always we have new readers, who don’t know as much as we do about ELA Container Offshore, could you give us a brief overview of your company to bring them up to date?
Hans Gatzemeier: Hello, I am very pleased to be here, and to give you an overview of the company. ELA Container Offshore delivers mobile room solutions, using containers, for all types of offshore platforms and vessels. We offer fully equipped containers either for sale or rent.
Renting is very popular, as our customers only incur costs for a specific time period. Our offshore units are available at short notice, are individually customisable, and are ready for immediate use. In a nutshell, they are fast, flexible and ready to use.
PES: What is your experience in the wind industry and is this an important part of your business?
HG: ELA’s mobile room solutions give the company a highly diversified position in the global offshore market. Offshore wind is expected to be a booming market in the future.
Installing an offshore wind farm is a huge task. Routine work, such as exploring the sea bed, foundations for structures, laying cables, constructing wind turbines and converter stations, commissioning, and subsequent maintenance work during operation, require flexible solutions in all areas.
Our mobile room solutions accommodate a continually fluctuating number of specialists in the various phases.
PES: Could you tell us about the different types of containers you offer, with examples of their use by your customers?
HG: We always stock three container types in our rental fleet, so that we can meet any requirements that our customers may have: the 20 ft ELA Offshore ALLROUNDER, the 20 ft Offshore PREMIUM container and the 33 ft ELA Offshore PREMIUM PLUS container.
Being fully equipped, for example as living quarters, offices, changing areas, canteens, recreation areas, workshops or simply as store rooms, they can be deployed rapidly – either as single containers or as a system of connected containers.
Of course, we are also happy to produce containers to our customers’ specifications. Thanks to our local production facilities, they can be quickly produced to any specifications and sizes required by the customer. Even when offshore approvals are necessary.
