First Sustainability Report

In publishing the 2010 Sustainability Report, CENTROTEC Sustainable AG has carried out a first official analysis of its own carbon footprint and of other sustainability-related data such as the consumption of resources, health and safety at work, and aspects of social responsibility. This report was preceded by a process of collecting non-financial data that is of increasing relevance for businesses, spanning the period 2008 to 2010 and all production units of the CENTROTEC Group.

The first Sustainability Report thus represents a major addition to the already extensive financial reports published by CENTROTEC, as Europe’s only listed supplier of energy-saving solutions for buildings. The information gathered was used e.g. for the submission to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the world-leading database of information on emissions and climate protection strategies that have been put in place by industry. Bearing in mind that CENTROTEC fundamentally strives for a high level of transparency in its reporting, this first report to the CDP already been very positively received and has helped CENTROTEC to close the gap on the leading companies in respect of reporting quality. As well as being a source of information for investors, media, customers and government agencies, the various sustainability data is used internally, in particular for optimising operating processes and products.

In future, CENTROTEC will update the Sustainability Report annually and in the process seek to intensify its investigation of the underlying issues. The aim is steadily to improve its key sustainability indicators, and refine its internal processes and organisation in a suitably sustainable way. Corresponding measures such as a guideline on CO2-neutral new buildings, the incorporation of CO2 reduction targets into the budget process and other measures both at group level and at the individual companies have already been implemented.

CENTROTEC Sustainable AG
CENTROTEC Sustainable AG and its subsidiaries enjoy a presence in over 50 different countries. The principal group companies are Wolf Heiztechnik, Brink Climate Systems and Ned Air in the Climate Systems segment, which have specialised in heating, climate control and ventilation technology e.g. in the form of solar thermal systems, CHP units and residential ventilation systems with heat recovery, as well as Ubbink and Centrotherm, which have focused on gas flue systems and solar system components in the Gas Flue Systems segment. CENTROTEC is consequently Europe’s only listed full-service provider of solar thermal systems and energy-saving solutions for buildings.
