Enviromena, one of the UK’s leading clean energy solutions companies, has appointed Steven Bainbridge as Head of Planning to help secure planning consent for its UK pipeline of projects.
Steven, who is the two-time winner of the RTPI East of England Regional Planning Achievement Award, joined Enviromena this week with more than 19 years’ experience working in various planning roles.
Starting his career in the public sector in planning enforcement, the bulk of Steven’s experience has been in the private sector in a range of consultancies, where his work covered every area of planning and projects both small and large, engaging with private domestic clients all the way to the Secretary of State and many in between.
Reporting directly to Enviromena’s European Development Director, Steven’s role will see him progress current planning applications to accelerate Enviromena’s renewable energy projects portfolio, which will significantly contribute to UK’s Government’s net zero targets.
A Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), Steven joins Enviromena from InstaVolt, the UK’s largest rapid EV charging network, where he helped secure planning for the South’s largest EV charging ‘Super Hub’. Steven has also worked on several of Enviromena’s projects as part of his previous role at Chapman Lily Planning Ltd.
Commenting on his appointment, Steven said: “I am very pleased to join Enviromena at this crucial time as governments begin to come together to tackle climate change across the world. Planning systems have had to adapt to be more dynamic and decisive so that they can reflect that need, putting aside old habits and get the renewable infrastructure in place and it is great for me to be able to play my part within that.”
Mark Harding, European Development Director at Enviromena, said: “We are very excited to welcome Steven to the team as we continue to grow our self-developed pipeline to ground mount solar projects and energy storage projects across the UK.
“Steven’s wealth of experience will be crucial in helping to secure planning consent and accelerating the volume of projects being handed over to our in-house construction team to build out over the coming years.”
