Ever mindful of the importance of the correct, efficient and safe use of its bolt tensioning and tightening tools, Tentec is pleased to announce the availability of Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) certified bolt training courses and qualifications for the Wind and Renewables industry.
With the acquisition of the well-respected Aberdeen-based training company, Peak Performance, Tentec now offers established training units related to the use of bolt tightening tooling, assembly of components, joint verification and quality paperwork. Thanks to new investment, Tentec’s facility in Birmingham UK is now an approved ECITB training centre and courses have been extended to include all aspects of bolting operations including risk assessment, method statements, isolations, interpretation of drawings and flange management. Not only does the training cover hand torque, hydraulic torque and hydraulic tensioning but also Tentec own derived modules covering the correct use of Hydraulic Nuts and Tentec’s popular BTS – Bolt Tightening Software.
Tentec’s experienced trainers can offer the courses either at the Tentec training facility or onsite – anywhere in the world. Already, their busy schedule this year has seen training sessions in UK, Aberdeen, Vietnam, Ireland, Croatia and Greece.
In addition to training, Tentec also offer a follow up service that can lead to a series of technical tests. Success in these tests results in the award of certification that is valid for three years. The certification is an official ECITB qualification and is recognised throughout the world as the benchmark for bolting training. Assuming that the operator maintains records of continuing bolting work, there is no requirement for further training, only re-testing.
“This is an exciting development for our company.” says Mike Gethings, Tentec’s Managing Director. “We recognise how important it is that our tools are used correctly. Not only is it a safety issue with structured training leading to the reduction in accidents and failures but efficient use also results in an extension of the tools’ working lifetime.”
