UK solar boom hits centre stage in London
Published in: Solar, Digital Blog
The UK's renewable energy sector continues to accelerate and this April, one of its most important industry events returned to the capital. Solar & Storage Live London 2026 took place at Excel London on 29th to 30th April, bringing together more than 10,000 professionals from across the solar and energy storage value chain.
As the UK pushes towards ambitious net zero targets, the event provided a vital platform to explore the technologies, partnerships and strategies needed to deliver the next phase of the energy transition. Now in its third edition, the platform has quickly become a key meeting point for installers, developers, utilities, investors, policymakers and commercial energy users.
Exploring the latest solar and storage innovations
At the core of the event was its dynamic exhibition floor, featuring more than 150 global exhibitors showcasing products, technologies and services shaping the future of renewable energy. From advanced solar PV modules and mounting systems to cutting-edge battery storage and smart energy management solutions, the exhibition highlighted innovations designed to improve performance, reduce costs and increase scalability.
Exhibitors included EcoFlow, SolaX Power, Anker Solix, Solis, GoodWe, Eurener, Failte Solar, FoxESS, JA Solar, K2 Systems, Siemens and Sigenergy, representing a broad spectrum of solution providers. Visitors could compare solutions and meet suppliers face-to-face across a wide range of categories, including battery storage systems, electrical infrastructure, EPC services, O&M solutions and financing services.
Insights from an industry-leading agenda
Complementing the exhibition was a comprehensive conference programme featuring more than 150 expert speakers from across government, industry and the investment community. The agenda was designed to address the most pressing challenges facing the sector, delivering specialised content across four dedicated theatres:
- Utility scale / keynote theatre: Focused on large-scale solar deployment, grid constraints, corporate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and AI-driven optimisation tech.
- Storage theatre: Highlighted the role of energy storage, exploring financing models, fire risk monitoring and alternative options like thermal or compressed air storage.
- Commercial & industrial theatre: Focused on practical case studies showing how businesses integrate solar arrays into their operations to manage costs and hit sustainability targets.
- Residential theatre: Explored community solar projects, grant options and government-led initiatives supporting household-level technology adoption.
Standout sessions included a presentation by London's Deputy Mayor, Mete Coban, on solar's role in the capital, alongside targeted panels covering decarbonizing data centers with Amazon Web Services and navigating modern policy shifts with Cornwall Insight.
Dedicated feature areas and practical hubs
Beyond the conference rooms, the event offered a range of dedicated feature areas designed to provide hands-on value and targeted networking:
- Meet the installers zone: A dedicated space helping developers, landowners and commercial businesses find trusted UK-based installation partners for solar projects of all sizes.
- Installer training hub: A practical workshop area offering hands-on learning sessions covering solar PV installation, battery integration and system commissioning led by leading manufacturers.
- Professional services zone: A targeted hub for finance, insurance and advisory organisations providing direct insight into funding and risk management mechanisms.
By combining a world-class exhibition floor, an expert-led conference programme and practical feature zones, the event offered an essential environment for every professional looking to build partnerships and develop field skills.
