The gloom of winter has well and truly passed, but you won’t find us at PES heading off to the coast for our summer break just yet, for this is our busiest time of year. And it seems, from the feedback we receive from you, it’s also a very productive quarter for the wind industry in general.
Of course, everyone seems to be gearing up for the imminent AWEA WINDPOWER 2011 Conference and Exhibition, which looks set to be the biggest and best ever. We’ve been media partners at most of the industry shows over the past few years and have noticed a dramatic up-shift in operations, which is great to see. We’ll continue to support the world’s biggest shows, and will be off to Anaheim ourselves later this month. We can’t wait. Please don’t hesitate to come and introduce yourself if you see us there.
In the meantime, we’ve just published the latest issue of PES magazine, which we’re extremely proud of. Featuring all the very latest wind sector content, it’s our strongest ever publication, and is definitely worth getting hold of (if you don’t already subscribe, visit http://www.pes.eu.com/pes-portfolio/subscribe/8/ for details).
The issue comes at a fascinating time for the wind industry – and the North American market, in particular. We have the House Appropriations Committee wanting to cut clean energy funding by a frankly staggering $900m – a sizable piece of the President’s proposed spending on clean energy in 2011; the industry facing increasing transportation problems as turbine sizes threaten to go mega; and legislators in Washington DC and Ottawa both appearing to ignore the manifest benefits of Feed-in Tariffs.
We tackle each of these potentially crucial issues in the edition. There’s also our usual mix of analysis and comment, and a selection of in-depth features relating to wind energy manufacturing and development.
All in all, it makes for great reading – and dare we say it, a welcome distraction in the downtime between industry shows. So until next time…
