A valued member of the team at Ormazabal, Andoni Iturrizaga is well-known throughout the industry. But what’s not quite not so well-known, however, are his views on the sector and what drives him on to excel in his job. We caught up with the busy executive…
PES: Thanks for your time today, can you firstly explain a little about your role, and how
it relates to the renewables industry?
Andoni Iturrizaga : I am the Regional Sales Manager, North Europe for two of the biggest worldwide turbine manufacturers. My main duty is to gather all the current needs that the client has, and even potential future necessities that they may not be even aware now, regarding our product and service scope of supply. These inputs are transmitted to the different manufacturing facilities to present a tailor-made solution.
This rapid flow of information is vital nowadays in the renewable industry, whose pace of development is extremely fast. We should also consider that the proper installation has migrated rapidly from onshore to offshore application, by far the bet all wind turbine manufacturers are heading for, because of higher level of wind availability and hence, continuity of service. The main challenge in this respect is to design from scratch products with minimum level of maintenance that are as reliable as possible in hazardous environments, as an installation in the middle of the North Sea.
PES: How did you first become involved in
the industry?
