Maximising asset value in onshore wind

Do you know what to look for when choosing an asset manager to look after your renewable portfolios? Emily White, managing director of Entap, suggests some key questions that operators and investors should ask. She questions whether asset managers always focus on the things that investors and fund managers really care about.

According to Wikipedia, asset management is “the practice of managing assets to achieve the greatest return,” while the ISO 55000 definition of asset management is “coordinated activity of an organisation to realise value from assets.”Key to both of these definitions is that the primary role of asset management is to maximise the value returned from the asset.

However, asset management for renewables can mean different things to different people. Our approach is to offer a comprehensive asset management service that encompasses technical, commercial, financial and site-based services.
Our clients don’t have to take all of these services from us, but we believe that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts: sharing information across these different service disciplines enables us to manage our clients’ assets more efficiently, optimising their financial returns.

If you are looking for a third party to manage your wind or solar assets, here are 10 questions to ask before signing up with a service provider.
