A young company with a fresh, can-do attitude, Zensor offers a ‘one-stop shop for monitoring solutions’ in the wind market. It’s currently creating waves with a raft of new clients, and is also attracting the attention of leading institutions with a major award. We found out what makes the company tick, thanks to a conversation with one of the founders, Yves Van Ingelgem.
PES: Welcome back to PES. For the benefit of new readers, would you mind introducing the company and outlining how you serve the wind industry?
Yves Van Ingelgem: Zensor provides integrated monitoring solutions for the long-term follow-up of the integrity of offshore wind structures. We equip the tower and foundation with different types of sensors that cover all aspects of relevance for structural integrity: corrosion, fatigue, strain, cracking, scour, gas evolution… Based on our smart algorithms and additional data related to operational and metocean conditions, this is converted into dashboards and advanced reports on the state of health of the asset.
PES: First thing’s first: tell us about the MIT Innovator Award!
YvI: This award means a lot to us. And all the more so as we were elected by an independent group of international experts. The award illustrates perfectly what we want to offer to our customers. As innovation is in Zensor’s DNA, we strive to continuously improve and upgrade our monitoring solutions by implementing state-of-the art technologies and algorithms in the entire monitoring process. The upgrading is valid for new installations, but through our unique approach existing setups are also kept in line with the most recent developments. Furthermore, we will keep on investing in developing new sensor types.
PES: And how has the company been faring commercially in 2015?
