As an experienced Offshore Shipbroker, Anders Helsinghoff Fjord has his finger on the pulse of the market both in Europe and further afield. The spokesman for North Sea Shipbrokers ApS tells us about the state of the industry and explains what today’s wind clients are looking for in their vessels (to purchase or charter).
PES: Welcome to the magazine. Would you mind explaining a little
about the company and how you serve the wind industry?
Anders Helsinghoff Fjord: Thank you very much for inviting us; it is a pleasure to be in the magazine. The North Sea Shipbrokers ApS has had a global footprint since 1975 as a specialist in the offshore market; we combine detailed technical expertise with in-depth understanding of the requirements of our clients.
We guide and evaluate on those individual requirements to find the best and most suitable and cost efficient vessel according the client’s needs. We also clearly allocate and guide the duties and targets between the partners. We also conduct seamless cooperation between partners to achieve the joined targets, and in addition transfer and develop the relevant engineering know-how for turnkey solutions. Furthermore, we optimise the balance between short response times and long-term planning for new projects.
PES: When did the company diversify into the wind industry? Has it performed according to your expectations?
AHF: The North Sea Shipbrokers ApS has been in the wind industry since 2006. Indeed, the wind industry has performed very well (according to our expectations) with significant growth year by year. Of course, there were challenges as the whole offshore wind concept is a relatively new industry in contrast to the mature offshore oil and gas industry. Consequently, offshore operations were something new for many operators within the wind energy sector in the beginning. However, today we clearly see a better understanding of chartering market practices from energy majors and offshore wind operators, along with a more professional approach to the required fleet.
