Expansion and Optimism

John Price, Global Sales Director Renewables, Products and Services, JDR, tells PES about the increase in work in the offshore wind sector. The mood is upbeat and optimistic..

PES: Welcome to PES Wind magazine. Thanks for talking with us. Would you like to begin by explaining a little about the background of your organisation and how you currently serve the offshore wind industry?
John Price:
JDR is a world-class provider of subsea technologies and services connecting the global offshore energy industry. The company was established in 1990 to service the offshore oil and gas industry. JDR expanded into the renewables market in 2009 pioneering the development of inter-array cables for the global offshore wind, wave and tidal energy sectors. The company designs, engineers, manufactures and supports end-to-end package solutions including inter-array cables, accessories and connectors that operate in harsh, dynamic subsea environments. JDR also has an offshore service personnel division to support project installation, pre-commissioning and repair and maintenance services.

PES: You are active in a number of industry sectors. How important is the offshore wind business to JDR?
JP:
Currently, offshore wind projects represent over 50 per cent of JDR’s global business. The sector will continue to play a vital role in JDR’s success, which is why we are upgrading our Hartlepool manufacturing facility and R&D initiatives to ensure we stay on the leading edge of innovative technologies and solutions for our clients.
