Cargostore Worldwide Formalises Expansion into the East Coast US Wind Market with New Partnership

Cargostore Worldwide, the leading UK-based provider of DNV 2.7-1 certified offshore containers is pleased to announce its formal expansion into the East Coast US wind market through a new partnership with Blue Ocean Port Services.

The Port of Providence (ProvPort) has been identified as the ideal location for Cargostore’s first depot dedicated to supporting offshore wind projects on the East Coast of the United States. In order to provide clients with the highest level of turnkey service for CCU handling and reefer management, Cargostore has appointed Blue Ocean Port Services (BOPS) as their marketing partner for the US East Coast. BOPS is a Joint Venture between Waterson Terminal Services LLC (WTS) in the Port of Providence and Maritime International operating from the Port of New Bedford.

WTS provides terminal and cargo handling services whilst Maritime International adds New Bedford’s largest cold storages facilities to its international cargo handling capabilities. Not only does this new venture combine the extensive technical and local knowledge of these two companies, it places Cargostore’s CCUs and reefers in the heart of ProvPort and New Bedford ensuring fast and efficient mobilisation combined with quality back up and support for clients.

The US government plans to have over 30GW of offshore wind production capacity by 2030 and as an experienced provider of Cargo Carrying Units (CCUs) and Reefers certified to DNV 2.7-1 standard for offshore Europe and Taiwan, Cargostore is committed to supporting many of our existing and new American clients in offshore wind on the US East Coast.

The expansion comes after Cargostore’s second exhibition at the International Partnering Forum (IPF), the US based offshore wind conference, which provided invaluable insights into the local market and the opportunity to establish relationships with partners and clients.

Cargostore have already delivered various DNV 2.7-1 certified unit types to Providence, including Closed and Open Top CCU’s, Half Heights, Reefers and Waste Skips, and have secured contracts in support of the Vineyard Wind project.

Offshore Director, Sans Unkles said “Cargostore Worldwide are delighted to have signed this agreement with Blue Ocean Port Services. We are convinced this new partnership will provide the high-quality support services for which Cargostore has become recognised globally and we look forward to playing our small part in supporting the exciting plans for energy transition in the USA.”

WTS General Manager, Chris Waterson said “Blue Ocean Port Services (BOPS) was established to create regional collaboration, combining the expertise of WTS and Maritime International to better service the US Offshore Wind Industry in Southern New England. This partnership with Cargostore Worldwide will add value to our existing tenants and clients, as well as attract new users to WTS and Maritime International operated facilities.”
