PES: Welcome to PES. Would you like to tell us a little about the company and how you service the wind industry?
Jacob Lykke-Kjeldsen: World Marine Offshore (hereafter WMO) was founded in 2012, by five entrepreneurs with solid experience from offshore shipping and management. The idea was to develop industry-leading vessels for crew and cargo transfer, and this was achieved with the WindServer vessels.
There are two features that stand out and provide us with a significant advantage over our rivals: 1) the development of our patented ‘soft-bow’, an active gangway that allows for smoother and safe transfers, and 2) the SWATH trimaran design. Together it makes it possible for the vessels to transfer crew in waves of over three metres.
Our vessels are fitted with business class seats, similar to what you find in airplanes (and able to adjust to sleeping mode) and a variety of entertainment features such as Wi-Fi, TV/video, iPads, etc. The vessels are also equipped with all necessary equipment for living on board for longer periods, which makes it possible to do without accommodation vessels.
The company is financially backed by a solid investor group with years of experience in Offshore Oil & Gas, which has made it possible for the WMO group to utilise opportunities in existing and new markets. Through mergers and acquisitions, the WMO group today consists of four companies within the offshore industry.
Today, WMO employs 75 people including 13 at the office in Esbjerg and one in the office in Germany.
