IBC SOLAR Competence Center celebrates 10-year anniversary

Bad Staffelstein, 14 June 2022 – IBC SOLAR, a leading full-service provider of solar energy solutions, is pleased to announce ten years of successfully conducted trainings at its Competence Centre. Since 2012, 20,800 participants have benefited from the internal and external training with in-person and online events covering all aspects of consulting, planning and installing photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems and the demand continues to grow. Therefore, IBC SOLAR is continuously expanding the range of topics offered and has recently added new training courses for PV installation specialist qualifications.

The Competence Centre conducts training courses on more than 75 topics, including system technology, operational management, sales and PV planning software. Among the courses in high demand are training courses in cooperation with TÜV Rheinland. Interested installers can qualify as certified photovoltaic service and maintenance technicians for solar systems. Over 180 service and maintenance technicians have already successfully completed their professional training.

Each year, the Competence Centre conducts more than 100 seminars and webinars. Since 2019, the centre has also strengthened its range of online training courses – both nationally and internationally. Since then, important technical classes can be adapted to the core markets and their local product requirements and can also be attended online. For example, training courses on storage systems or training to become an „Electrotechnically Instructed Person” or “Electrician for Specified Activities”. The 90 webinars alone recorded more than 1,500 participants in 2021.

“We are delighted about the strong demand and positive feedback on our training courses,” explains Christian Thierauf, Manager of the Competence Centre at
IBC SOLAR. “Our partners particularly appreciate the strong practical relevance of the training courses. In times of a shortage of skilled workers and a lack of assembly capacities, the interest in further education, qualifications and training is also increasing. Therefore, we have further expanded our training offer in this area.”

Trainings for skilled assembly workers help specialised companies to expand their capacities

Among the latest training offers are courses for installation specialist qualifications. For example, the Competence Centre is now also training assembly personnel for PV systems, especially for the installation of the DC side, in a five-day training course. The aim of the courses is to build up and expand the installation capacities of specialist partners. The training is also suitable for career changers who want to gain a foothold in the growing market for renewable energy systems. The various training courses include the following topics:

  • Electrotechnical basics
  • PV components
  • The public electricity grid
  • Safety during electrical work
  • Working at heights: Correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including certificate of participation from the German Technical Inspection Association (TÜV)
  • Requirements for safe scaffolds
  • Common mistakes when building a PV system
  • Installation of different mounting systems on demo roofs with different roof coverings (trapezoidal sheet metal, tiled roof and flat roof)

A special focus of the programme is being placed on the praxis-oriented part of the training in order to enable a quick entry into the new profession.

“2022 is an anniversary year for IBC SOLAR. In addition to the 40th anniversary of the company, we are also celebrating the 10th anniversary of our training centre,” explains Patrik Danz, CSO at IBC SOLAR. “It is particularly important to us to support our specialist partners so that we can jointly advance the expansion of renewable energies. Therefore, we always try to take into account the feedback from our partners and their current needs. We are very pleased that the offer has been enthusiastically accepted.”
