The Stuttgart-based software developer doppelintegral GmbH has launched the new version 8.0.1 of their software INSEL (Integrated Simulation Environment Language) this month. This software is much more than a conventional simulation program for renewable energy systems. Instead, it is designed for professionals and end customers to understand, plan, monitor and visualise renewable energy systems. To this end, INSEL provides a meteorological database of 2,000 international locations as well as simulation parameters of all solar modules, inverters and thermal collectors that are available worldwide.
The new version includes measurement data of thin-film solar cells, in addition to that of crystalline solar modules. As the shape of the IV curves of thin-film cells has a stronger irradiance dependence than crystalline cells, they require more parameters for the simulation process. “With our newly developed analytical model, we have managed to reduce the failure rate of simulating thin film modules to about zero percent”, says Jürgen Schumacher, founder and managing director of doppelintegral. Instead of six, the new model now calculates with ten parameters.
A 30-day-trialware version in English is available at www.insel.eu. The full version of INSEL 8.0.1 costs 1,700 euro plus VAT. Discounts of 50 % are available for universities, student licenses cost 85 euro. Users of the previous version INSEL 7 can upgrade their software to the new version for an additional charge of 300 euro (for companies). German, Italian and Spanish versions will be released soon.
About doppelintegral GmbH
doppelintegral was founded by Dr. Jürgen Schumacher and Prof. Ursula Eicker, who currently employ ten people. Since 2001, the Stuttgart-based company has been developing and distributing innovative software solutions for renewable energy systems and preparing energy concepts for buildings. Research institutes and universities use software from doppelintegral for scientific research. Manufacturers of the PV sector offer software, programmed by doppelintegral for specific customer needs, to design PV systems and predict the yield. Among the customers of the innovative software developer are the German Railways (Deutsche Bahn) and the Japanese PV manufacturer Sharp.
