REpower gets wind turbine orders from French firm

Mumbai: REpower, in which Suzlon Energy holds a majority stake, said it has got an order from France-based EOLE-RES SA to supply 26 wind turbines.

REpower has entered into an agreement with EOLE-RES SA to supply 26 wind turbines of 2 MW each, generating a total capacity of 52 MW, Suzlon said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

“France remains one of the most important wind markets in Europe and we are delighted to be bringing together for the first time the long-standing experience of EOLE-RES and the expertise of REpower

“So far we have set up almost 400 turbines with a total generating capacity of some 750 MW in various French regions and wish to expand our position here even further in the future,” REpower Systems AG CEO Per Hornung Pedersen said.

The 26 wind turbines are to be delivered and commissioned by October 2010, the filing added.

“France is among the world’s leaders in wind energy installations, and an important market for REpower. We are pleased to welcome this order, which underlines REpower’s strong presence in the European wind market,” Suzlon Energy chairman and managing director Tulsi Tanti said.

Shares of Suzlon were trading at Rs73.10 on the BSE, up 0.34% from the previous close.
