Energy industry body recognised for Covid-19 response

Energy Networks Association (ENA) has been shortlisted as a finalist for a prestigious award in two categories for its response to the global pandemic.

ENA, which represents the UK and Ireland’s energy networks, is a finalist in the Covid Response Awards run by GCN Events. The energy industry body joins other notable finalists including BBC Education, Channel 4, HMRC, Hotwire and Zoom, the video-conferencing platform.

For its work with Ofgem to secure over £300m of accelerated funding to bolster ‘shovel-ready’ green projects across England, Scotland and Wales, ENA is shortlisted in the “Best Covid-19 response involving finance/professional services” category.

For its work with Ofgem to offer energy suppliers the ability to defer payment of network charges, in order to offer additional protection to customers, it is shortlisted in the “Best Covid-19 response in associations” category.

Commenting, David Smith, Chief Executive of ENA said:

“I am really proud of the team we have at ENA who have adapted to a ‘new normal’ while prioritising initiatives that support Net Zero and protect customers. To be recognised for this work as a finalist in these awards is fantastic.”

The award winners will be announced in November this year.
