Zara Glew, Plug me in’s Commercial Director, has been recognised for her contribution to the clean energy sector after winning the inaugural Women in Renewable Energy award at the Solar & Storage Live UK Awards 2026. The ceremony took place at The Vox, Resorts World Birmingham, on 22 September 2026.
The Women in Renewable Energy award was introduced to honour the contribution and impact of women across the energy industry, and to celebrate those helping to shape its future.
Zara's career in renewable energy spans more than 15 years. She founded Environmental Energies in 2011 and successfully grew the business over 13 years before its acquisition by Calisen in 2024, when it became part of the group's renewable energy business, Plug me in. Since then, she has continued to play a vital role in supporting business growth, championing positive change across the renewable energy sector and helping to accelerate the transition to clean energy.
Although the award recognises Zara’s individual contribution, she was quick to acknowledge the wider team whose dedication and hard work have helped build the company.
“Whilst my name may be on the award, I would be remiss not to mention the amazing team at Plug me in. Over the last 15 years they have worked tirelessly to build the company into what it is today, and I am lucky to work alongside such a dedicated and talented group of people. This award is every bit as much theirs as it is mine.”
She also highlighted the important contribution women are making across the renewable energy industry.
“There are so many remarkable women making a valuable contribution in different roles and in different parts of the clean energy sector, and I hope this award helps to shine a light on the work they are doing and the difference they are making.”
