wpd windmanager and Impax agree long-term cooperation in Finland

wpd windmanager Scandinavia Oy is taking over the technical and commercial management of a portfolio of wind farms in Finland owned by a renewable energy fund managed by the British fund manager, Impax Asset Management (AIFM) Limited. The first project is the 27MW Joukhaisselkä wind farm near Sodankylä in Lapland. The first turbines of type Nordex N-117 have been in operation since January 2015 with all 9 turbines expected to be fully operational until the end of April. A further two wind farms are scheduled to be commissioned during the year.

wpd windmanager will take over the entire technical and commercial management of the wind farms and ensure that they operate smoothly and efficiently. One important cornerstone of this process is constant remote data monitoring which the Joukhaisselkä wind farm will be linked to. This guarantees fast response times if any anomalies occur and minimise possible losses.

Nils Brümmer, Managing Director of the parent company, wpd windmanager GmbH & Co. KG, explains: “Our office in Finland has excellent contacts in the industry and our local staff has many years of experience in the field of renewable energy.”

Finland is an important location for the wpd Group. According to Mr. Brümmer, wpd AG, a sister company of wpd windmanager, has realised its first turbines in Finland and is planning to implement projects with a total volume of several hundred MW in the next few years. He explains that these parks will also fall under the management responsibility of wpd windmanager.
