Mumbai/Pforzheim/Freiburg, April 05, 2016 – Strong partners for the energy transition in India: HUSUM Wind and Intersolar are forming a strategic partnership. From October 19-21, 2016, the internationally renowned exhibition for wind energy will be represented with a special area at India’s largest exhibition and conference for the solar industry in Mumbai. The special area combines the organizers’ expertise for the Indian market. India has huge potential for renewable energy, and the Indian government has set ambitious targets for the expansion of wind and solar energy in the years ahead.
The Indian prime minister, Narendra Modi, has declared energy a top priority, and the industry is gathering momentum. Renewable energy, most notably photovoltaics und wind power, is a cornerstone of the expansion, with both forms of energy seeing significant growth in recent years. 2,623 megawatts (MW) of wind energy were deployed in 2015, and experts predict an annual investment of around 16.5 billion US Dollars by 2020. The figures for the solar industry, which grew by 1.4 gigawatts (GW) in 2015, look just as impressive. An additional 4-6 GW of capacity are projected for 2016, which would put India in 4th place among the world’s top solar markets. Given its high level of solar irradiation, abundant open spaces and steadily growing energy needs, India is considered one of the most attractive sites for solar energy.
The expansion targets for wind energy are just as ambitious, with the goal of adding 4.1 GW within the same time period. Many Indian companies are taking advantage of this dynamic growth and are active in both markets, offering products, solutions and services for wind power sites and photovoltaics. These are perfect conditions for the newly established cooperation between Intersolar India and HUSUM Wind.
