WINDFORCE Baltic Sea Conference of the WAB took place on Lolland/Falster in Denmark

Cooperation in the energy transition and strengthening technology transfer are more important than ever

Maribo, Bremerhaven 21.02.2025 – The 23rd WINDFORCE Baltic Sea Conference took place from February 19-20, 2025 in Maribo on Lolland / Falster, Denmark, under the motto “Cooperation in the energy transition, strengthening technology transfer, implementing climate protection goals, creating jobs, strengthening industry”. This year’s conference partner was the German-Danish Chamber of Commerce.

With international guests and national experts such as Pernille Asgard Haaning, CEO of RWE Renewables Denmark and Dr. Henrich Quick, Head of Offshore at 50 Hertz Transmission GmbH

the conference focused on the sustainable development of offshore wind.

Markus Nölke – WAB Managing Director:

“The WINDFORCE Baltic Sea Conference connects the countries bordering the Baltic Sea across national borders and strengthens the professional exchange within the industry.

After previous conferences in Germany, Estonia, Finland, Poland and Sweden, the time has come to exchange ideas about cooperation across national borders in the important Danish Baltic Sea region.

The venue on Lolland was therefore particularly important because we were able to find out about future but concrete plans there.”

Denmark is investing in the expansion of infrastructure and the connection to Germany. The construction of the Fehmarnbelt Tunnel was explained during an excursion.

The business development agency Femern Belt Development provided information about the plans to make the tunnel construction areas available for the production of renewable energy infrastructure.

The topics set at the conference, German-Danish cooperation in the energy transition, cooperation projects in technology transfer, projects in the Baltic Sea region, service, maintenance and recycling, showed that cross-border cooperation for the further development of projects represents the next step in European networking.

The necessary steps and challenges required to achieve the expansion targets in Europe, Denmark and Germany were also discussed.

The use of synergies in the area of technology transfer was discussed in detail.

Great Britain is also an important partner in Europe for the further development of technology transfer and CO2 reduction and was represented in the discussion by the British embassy from Denmark.

One result of the discussions was that cross-border cooperation is important for the development of offshore wind projects and the necessary infrastructure for grid connection, ports for service and maintenance and logistics.

Ørsted, RWE Danmark and Vattenfall provided information on the status of project developments and future tenders in Danish waters.

The possibilities of predicting price developments in the offshore wind value chain were presented and discussed in detail.

In other specialist presentations, the many years of experience in the commissioning of grid connection systems, experience in the initial dismantling of wind turbines and the next steps in recycling to establish a circular economy in renewable energies were presented.
