Accreditation as RE Certification Body granted by the IECRE / IECRE certificates for manufacturers of wind turbines / Harmonized system for worldwide certification of power plantsCologne/Hamburg, July 26, 2017. TÜV Rheinland has been audited and accredited as a certification body by the International Electrotechnical Committee Conformity Assessment System for Renewable Energy (IECRE). With this accreditation the company has been enabled to issue IECRE certificates for wind turbines as an independent testing organization. “This successful accreditation by the IEC has confirmed our expertise in the field of wind energy”, says Matthias Laatsch, head of wind power at TÜV Rheinland. “It complements our accreditations and presents an important criterion for turbine-, system- and component manufacturers.” TÜV Rheinland has been active in the field of type and component certification for wind turbines for several years and is now listed by the IECRE as one of eight companies on the list of RE Certification Bodies (RECBs).
The IECRE currently consists of 16 national committees from various countries. In October 2016, the organization launched a system for certification of renewable energy power plants. This system will close existing gaps in the fields of wind power, photovoltaics and marine energy and harmonize test procedures at a global level. It is designed to achieve common and mutual recognition of test services among the accredited certification bodies and testing labs and to facilitate an international systems trade that maintains the necessary safety level. It also aims to ensure that all suppliers, subcontractors and end consumers have a shared understanding of the elements, modules, reports, statements and certificates involved in this certification processes.
TÜV Rheinland offers comprehensive services in the field of wind energy to manufacturers, operators, investors and insurers. TÜV Rheinland assists customers around the world by creating assessments and performing condition monitoring, risk and damage analyses as well as by certifying wind turbines and wind farms. In addition, TÜV Rheinland is also accredited by the DAkks, Germany’s national accreditation body, for the certification of onshore and offshore wind farms and their components according to national and international standards.
