Paul Wheelhouse, Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands, addresses the audience during the opening session of the fifth global Conference on Wind Energy and Wildlife Impacts 2019 (CWW2019) taking place at the University of Stirling in Stirling, Scotland, from 27th to 30th August.
Attendees from all over the world have come together to talk about wind power and its effects on wildlife. The theme of this years’ event is “Renewable wind energy in new and changing environments – a forward look”.
This theme will look at the impacts on species, habitats and ecosystems; how to approach and come up with solutions for these impacts through mitigation, habitat restoration and risk reduction; and what the future challenges and opportunities are for these new and changing environments.

Chris Pendlebury, Director of Planning and Environment at Natural Power, is on the organising committee of CWW 2019. He said: “This conference is always a forum to keep up to date with the latest research on wind farms and wildlife impacts. With the conference being in Stirling this year it will be a great opportunity to showcase the expertise in this area coming out of Scotland.”
