The New Energy Husum trade fair offers a colourful peripheral programme

Husum, 27.02.2014. On top of the exhibition in the halls and the informative congress programme, from 20-23 March 2014, New Energy Husum will be attracting children and young people with an interesting peripheral programme. This includes a training and career forum for young talent, the JES! educational trail and the New Energy Slam speech competition. “With New Energy Husum we make renewable energy an experience”, says Peter Becker, managing director of Messe Husum & Congress.

New Energy Career Days opens career opportunities

With its New Energy Career Days job fair concept, Messe Husum & Congress is offering an extensive information forum for everyone aiming for a career in the renewable energy sector. Jobseekers will recognise potential employers by the green Career Days balloon on their stand and can address them directly. There are also job advertisements to be found on the bulletin board in the special exhibition area in Hall 3. A list of job vacancies has already been posted on the New Energy Husum website in cooperation with Jobverde.de.

During the exhibition new young talent can get valuable tips for a career in the sector and about entry into the field: The Flensburg Chamber of Trade and A.S.I. Wirtschaftsberatung will be providing information about training opportunities, and explaining the secrets of writing optimal job applications, at their exhibition stands and through lectures in the open forum for visitors.

The adventure of energy transition for children and young people

The Artefact Centre for Sustainable Development has a stand where it will be showcasing Germany’s first energy experience park. Situated in Glücksburg on the Baltic coast, the Artefact Park is where children can learn how we can generate energy from sunlight and wind, and how the greenhouse effect works. And how it is possible to develop ones own ideas about sustainable building, living and lifestyles.

This year, the youth competition JES! Jugend.Energie.Spaß will be presenting a learning path about renewable energy. Any interested young people between the ages of 14 and 22 can actively grapple with current topics affecting the sector by picking up a questionnaire and working together to find answers and solutions. JES! will hold a draw of all the completed questionnaires submitted where there will be ten prizes of 100 euros.

A popular and special audience attraction every year is the New Energy Slam. On 21 March, scientists, students and other creative talents have ten minutes in which to present their ideas about renewable energy, electric vehicles or the future of our energy supply. The important thing is that the speakers have to be able to entertain the audience. The audience then awards points to decide the winners, and who gets the main prize.

About New Energy Husum

In recent years, New Energy Husum has established itself as one of the most important trade fairs in the renewable energy sector. Since 2002 it has served as the showcase for decentralised energy generation based on the use of all renewable energies. The topics and techniques include small wind turbines (up to 100 kW), biogas, solid biomass (pellets, firewood and wood chips for heating systems), solar heating, photovoltaics, electric vehicles, subsurface geothermal energy, energy storage, energy efficient building and mini-CHPs. From 20 to 23 March 2014 experts and leading manufacturers will be meeting in the North Frisian town of Husum to set the course for the innovation needed in a rapidly growing market.
