THE JOINT VENTURE BETWEEN GRUPO CLAVIJO ELT, S.L. & SCHLETTER GMBH TO SUPPLY 96MW OF MOUNTING SYSTEMS IN SOUTH AFRICA

The joint venture between Grupo Clavijo, the Spanish manufacturer of photovoltaic mounting systems, and the German manufacturer Schletter GmbH has finally being assigned to supply the fixed structures for the 96MW of Jasper PV Project, in Northern Cape Province, near Kimberly in South Africa.

This photovoltaic installation will consist of 8,135 tables of fixed racking. This supply is a new success of the cooperation that both companies signed earlier this year in order to address the South African photovoltaic market, where a high percentage of local content supply is required in its South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Program (REIPPPP).

The EPC contractor for Jasper Project is the Spanish group Iberdrola Ingeniería y Construcción, together with whom Grupo Clavijo – Schletter joint venture will work in this photovoltaic installation. The total investment allocated to the project reaches 150 million euros and 300 people will be employed to build the site. The works will break ground in mid-September.

Jasper project was selected by the South African Department of Energy in May 2012 under the REIPPPP in the second round of bidding. The project has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Eskom, the South African power utility.

With this project Grupo Clavijo strengthens and continues its international expansion reaching a total of 380MW already installed worldwide. Apart from the African continent, Grupo Clavijo has an already established important presence in Europe, America and the Middle-East with a pipeline of more than 180MW.
