Henk Kamp, The Netherland’s Minister of Economic Affairs opens the 29th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC 2014) on Monday, 22 September 2014, 10:00. Opening addresses are followed by Ms Marie Donnelly, European Commission, Director in DG Energy, Directorate Renewables, Research and Innovation, Energy Efficiency, and Fokko Pentinga, President of Amtech Systems, Member of the select Top Team Energy, the Netherlands.
The Opening Ceremony is chaired by Vladimir Sucha, Director General JRC, European Commission, and by Teun Bokhoven, Conference General Chair of the EU PVSEC 2014 and President of the Dutch Renewable Energy Federation.
Following the Opening Addresses / Political Opening, a round table of distinguished international personalities will discuss on Europe’s role in globalized PV Research, Industry and Markets:
Teun Bokhoven, President of the Dutch Renewable Energy Federation,
Giovanni De Santi, Director Institute for Energy and Transport JRC, European Commission,
Ed Buddenbaum, Senior Policy Adviser, Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs,
Eicke Weber, Director Fraunhofer ISE, Germany,
Wiro Zijlmans, CEO Smit Ovens, the Netherlands,
Stefan Rinck, CEO Singulus Technologies, Germany, and Chairman Committee for Research and Innovation, VDMA, Germany,
Paolo Frankl, Head of the Renewable Energy Division, International Energy Agency, Paris, France,
James Watson, CEO, EPIA – European Photovoltaic Industry Association, Belgium.
The Scientific Opening will start already at 08:00 on 22 September 2014 with keynote presentations from the University of Valencia, Paterna, Spain, the Fraunhofer ISE, Freiburg, Germany, the ECN, Petten, the Netherlands as well as from the JRC, European Commission.
The Conference Programme is structured under the guidance of the Conference Technical Programme Chairman Dr. Arnulf Jäger-Waldau. When the conference takes place, the worldwide installed photovoltaic electricity generation capacity already exceeded 160 GW and according to the latest Renewable Energy Midterm Market Outlook 2014 of the IEA it will surpass 400 GW by the end of this decade.
Dr. Arnulf Jäger-Waldau: “These findings show that PV is on the right track to become a major electricity source in the coming years. The fact that in some countries the share of PV exceeds 40% of electricity generation at certain hours, not only shows the huge potential, but also underlines the urgency to provide new and cost effective solutions to dispatch and distribute this PV electricity where it is needed”.
EU PVSEC Exhibition 2014
PV professionals from about 100 countries are expected to attend the industry show. The EU PVSEC Industry Exhibition represents the entire PV value chain with international exhibitors including manufacturers of PV production equipment, manufacturers of photovoltaic solar cells and modules, systems suppliers, companies and organisations specialised in project development, research institutes, finance and consultancy.
EU PVSEC 2014 Parallel Events
A number of Parallel Events take place in addition to the Scientific Conference Programme and the PV Industry Exhibition. Those one-day events offer a deep insight into specific topics and include the latest scientific, technological, market and business related trends.
