Bleskensgraaf, the Netherlands, 14 September 2017 – Sunport Power commissioned their brand-new facility for the manufacturing of back-contact PV modules. The Chinese factory will produce an annual 3.3 million solar panels yielding a combined power supply of 1 GW per annum.
Sunport Power CEO Dr Zhang: “Back-contact modules come with substantial benefits. The most important being production capacity per panel in comparison to traditional methods. Thanks to our Eurotron production line that was already in operation, my clients already experience these advantages first-hand. Back-contact solar panels avoid capacity losses associated with shade and resistance in traditional panels. This means our clients generate more energy per square metre.”
Based on their experience with back-contact solar panel production, Sunport Power, situated in Nanjing, China, chose to ramp up its output of back-contact PV modules. With the current expansion, Sunport Power has substantially increased its market share and more steps will follow to expand the company’s leadership position.
Compared to traditional modules, back-contact solar panels show a significant improvement in accelerated lifetime tests. Reliable modules, a stable production process and an increasing number of material vendors show that the market is now embracing back-contact modules.
