Strategic Partnership of nvisionist with Toyota Group, Launching nvbird® Installation in Japan

The internationally awarded nvisionist continues to collaborate with leading global companies, further expanding its international presence into Asia.

nvisionist announces another strategic partnership of global reach. The multi-award-winning start-up has teamed up with the renowned Toyota Group to install the internationally pioneering nvbird® bird collision prevention system on wind turbines at two wind farms in Japan a significant move marking the company’s entry into the Asian market.

This project is being carried out in partnership with Eurus Energy Group, Japan’s largest wind energy development company. Eurus Energy is a joint venture between Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). As an independent power producer, Eurus Energy engages in wind and solar projects worldwide, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Norway, Japan, and South Korea. The name Eurus Energy Group itself derives from “Eurus,” the god of the east wind in Greek mythology.

The project involves the installation of nvbird® bird detection and monitoring systems at two wind farms on Hokkaido Island, Japan, aimed at protecting endangered birds. The installation of nvbird® systems on state-of-the-art Siemens Gamesa wind turbines has already begun, with the project expected to be completed by the end of November, aided by nvisionist’s experienced technical team, which has been on-site in Japan since early this month.

With a total of 25 global and national awards for innovation and technology, nvisionist has established itself as a top innovator in the fields of wind energy and ICT. Through its continuous recognition from esteemed bodies for its groundbreaking products, and partnerships with global technology giants, nvisionist has become a key international player, promoting environmental protection, biodiversity, and the development of high-tech ICT projects.

Thanks to the pioneering nvbird® technology and the company’s dynamic growth, nvisionist was recognized in 2023 as one of Europe’s three most innovative companies by the European Investment Bank and among the top 10 European scale-ups in DIGITALEUROPE’s Future Unicorn Awards 2024, with a potential valuation exceeding €1 billion. nvisionist is also the first and only company globally to win consecutive awards in the WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards (2021, 2022) for nvbird®. Moreover, in October, the company was named the third-best scale-up globally, winning Bronze in the WITSA World Cup for Tech Scale-ups 2024, hosted by the World Innovation, Technology, and Services Alliance (WITSA).

“We are thrilled and proud to announce the strategic partnership with Eurus Energy Group, Japan’s largest wind energy developer, a subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Tokyo Electric Power Company,” stated Nvisionist Special Advisor Mr. Vassilis Orfanos. “It is an honor and responsibility that a global giant acknowledges and trusts the innovation and effectiveness of our solution in addressing one of the most critical issues facing wind farms worldwide. This is further validation of the expertise and innovation embodied in nvbird®, which has positioned it as the most significant and effective solution in the global renewable energy sector. Digital technology is now a crucial factor in accelerating decarbonization and achieving zero emissions, as well as in the development of wind farms internationally, enhancing their efficiency while protecting the environment and biodiversity to the fullest,” emphasized Mr. Orfanos.

The innovative nvbird® detection system stands as Nvisionist’s flagship, a pioneering and comprehensive solution at the forefront of global technology, offering substantial environmental benefits and adding value to wind energy.

nvbird® enhances both wind farm efficiency and biodiversity protection. Specifically, it accurately detects and tracks birds flying near operational wind turbine blades. The system employs advanced AI and computer vision algorithms along with sound deterrents to initially prevent hazardous flight paths. If bird deterrence is unsuccessful, the turbines slow down until the birds are safely out of range, applicable to both onshore (nvbird® onshore) and offshore (nvbird® offshore) wind farms.
