Sputnik Engineering AG Announces Plan for Strategic Alignment

Biel, Switzerland -July 25, 2013 – The Swiss inverter manufacturer Sputnik Engineering today informs about restructuring plans. These plans include an optimization of the existing processes and cost structures as well as a strategic reorientation of the company. In addition to reduced operational and administrative costs this could also result in a reduction of the workforce in Biel, Switzerland. With these measures, the company wants to meet the considerable challenges the photovoltaic sector is facing on a global scale. Sputnik Engineering’s Supervisory Board assesses the company’s long-term perspectives positively.

The company now enters a consultation process required by Swiss law. If this process does not result in a different approach, the company might reduce staff at the Biel headquarters from currently 300 to 230-240 employees by end of August 2013. The company offers a voluntary social compensation plan to support any possibly concerned employees.
