Solar Log Managing PV Power

At the Solar Energy 2015 from October 13 to 15 in Birmingham, Solare Datensysteme GmbH will present a wide array of solutions to manage PV power efficiently and optimize yields.

X% regulation with the calculation of self-consumption
Feed-in Management is one function of the Solar-LogTM Energy Management System. This function allows the amount of PV energy that is fed into the grid to be limited from 0 to 100% of the module output, making it possible to set up a fixed reduction.

For example, if a PV system can generate 200 kWp, but only 150 kWp is exportable, Solar-LogTM will automatically make adjustments based upon these parameters. Rather than ‘losing’ power generated in excess of export restrictions, Solar-LogTM will direct energy into storage or operating appliances based upon the owner’s priorities, all the way down to zero feed-in power and 100% self-consumption.

Solar-LogTM adjusts the individual inverters to x% of the installed module output to ensure that the allowed amount of power is not exceeded at the feed-in point. An additional power meter is needed to record the amount of self-consumption. The inverters are adjusted accordingly to ensure that the export at the feed-in point does not exceed the maximum amount specified. This function allows the requirement even of 0 kW grid feed-in power to be implemented.
