Siemens wins 50 MW onshore wind project in Turkey


Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract to deliver 22 wind turbines of the SWT-2.3-108 type for the onshore wind power project Dinar in Turkey. The customer is Olgu Enerji Uretim A.Ş., an affiliate of Güriş Holding A.Ş. and Mogan Enerji Yatırım Holding (MEYH) A.Ş. Each wind turbine has an output of 2.3 megawatt (MW), a rotor diameter of 108 meters and will be installed on 80 meter hub height steel towers. The scope of supply for this 50 MW project includes the delivery, installation and commissioning as well as a five year service contract. The Dinar project will be the third Siemens wind project in Turkey after Mahmudiye (30 MW) and Dagpazari (39 MW).

The Dinar project will be located outside Afyon City, in South Western Turkey. Installation of the project will begin in Fall 2012, while commissioning shall be finalized in early 2013. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, Turkey has the target to increase the country’s installed wind power capacity to 20 Gigawatt (GW) by 2023. So far, Turkey has 1.8 GW wind power installed
