Leading renewable energy consultancy, SgurrEnergy, has supported the Galloper offshore wind farm, which will be located 27km off the coast of Suffolk and generate up to 336MW, to reach financial close.
SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, conducted technical due diligence providing initial bankability feedback to the developer, which was then followed by the successful completion of a detailed technical due diligence report for the benefit of the project lenders.
The Glasgow-based company has been working on this project for nine months and will continue to be involved with the wind farm in a construction and operations monitoring capacity.
The wind farm will generate enough clean energy for up to 336,000 homes and will support around 700 jobs during construction and around 100 jobs once operational.
SgurrEnergy’s Andrew Cole, Associate Director within the Advisory Services Group, said: “We would like to congratulate Galloper upon reaching this milestone achievement. It is a testimony to the efforts of their team that they have come such a long way in a short time this year. We are delighted to have supported them successfully through this development period and look forward to working together during the construction phase.”
Toby Edmonds, Project Director, Galloper Wind Farm Limited said: “The Galloper announcement underlines that the UK is still a strong market for offshore renewables and we’re delighted to be taking the project forward with our new project partners and investors. The support of everyone who has worked on the project thus far has helped us reach this critical milestone. SgurrEnergy have done an excellent job as the lenders technical advisor and we look forward to working with them and the banks to realise successful completion of the project. “
