SgurrEnergy completes technical advisor role for two Scottish wind farms


Leading renewable energy consultancy, SgurrEnergy, a Wood Group company, recently completed technical support for the two wind farms of Tod Hill (11.4 MW) and Harthill (5.7 MW) located in Scotland. Tod Hill wind farm is situated near Larbert, Falkirk, and Harthill can be found at in North Lanarkshire. The projects add to SgurrEnergy’s rapidly growing portfolio in the renewable energy industry.

The extensive scope of work undertaken by SgurrEnergy included technical support of planning consent, technical review of documentation, project management and project planning, on site engineering and civil engineering support, CDM and health and safety advisory services.

SgurrEnergy’s engineers carried out wind turbine walk-downs and repair inspections across both sites and also provided commercial and milestone support to the client, Capital Dynamics. Under SgurrEnergy’s guidance, the balance of plant contractor completed concurrent construction of the two projects.

SgurrEnergy has been involved with these projects since 2012 and services have included energy yield predictions, acquisition due diligence for Capital Dynamics, development of balance of plant technical specifications and a turbine technology review.

Following the construction phase, SgurrEnergy will continue its strong relationship with the client providing operations and maintenance services for the wind farms.
