SGS Sponsors Conference on Project Lifecycle Risk for Offshore Renewables

SGS is sponsoring the Conference on Project Lifecycle Risk for Offshore Renewables, which will take place from January 26 – 27, 2010 in London. It has become increasingly important to identify and mitigate project lifecycle risks for wind energy investments. Jale Cairney, Business Development Manager of SGS Wind Energy Services, will hold a presentation on “Exploring Challenges Around Aggregated Risk.”

The United Kingdom is Europe’s windiest country, estimated to have one third of the EU’s wind resources. In 2009, the UK became the leading global wind market, having the largest number of installed wind facilities. With the boom in offshore wind farms and the Crown Estate Round 3 Zone announcements, it becomes even more important that Project Managers are able to identify, manage and mitigate the risks of projects throughout the entire lifecycle.

The Conference on Project Lifecycle Risk for Offshore Renewables, which will take place from January 26 – 27, 2010, at the Grosvenor Victoria Hotel in London, aims to address this concern. Priority objective of this event is the sharing of knowledge and experience about the risks throughout the entire project lifecycle – from consent to development and construction, through to operations and maintenance. By presenting comparable experience in the oil and gas sector, the conference aims to help project managers tighten the business risk assessment process.

SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is one of the sponsors of this conference. SGS will be demonstrating its broad range of services for the Wind Energy Industry throughout the project life cycle of wind turbines.

The range of Wind Energy Services of SGS extends to all stages of wind farm projects, ranging from Project Feasibility Assessments through Wind Farm Project Certification to Risk Management, Review of Maintenance Management Programs and Condition Monitoring. SGS provides Inspection and Audit Services in accordance with international standards to ensure the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) aspects of both onshore and offshore wind farm projects.

On January 26, Jale Cairney, Business Development Manager of SGS Wind Energy Services, will give an interesting presentation about “Exploring Challenges Around Aggregated Risk”. Jale Cairney will discuss potential project risks how to work out aggregated risks for the project budget and how to balance risk with the appropriate contingency approach.
