SGS is one of more than 100 exhibitors at RenewableUK’s (formerly known as British Wind Energy Association, BWEA) annual offshore wind energy event. The RenewableUK Offshore Wind 2010 conference and exhibition will take place on June 29-30, 2010 at the Arena & Convention Centre in Liverpool, United Kingdom. SGS Renewable Energy Services will be exhibiting throughout the two-day event at stand no. 85.
The UK is the world leader in offshore wind with more projects installed, being planned and under construction than any other country in the world. By 2020 at least 20,000MW of offshore wind is expected to be installed and operating in UK waters. There are currently 228 offshore wind turbines in UK waters, with an installed capacity of 688MW, and a further 1,407 under construction and approved, totaling 4,598MW. It is estimated that each MW of offshore wind could power around 640 homes.
Over 1,000 people will attend RenewableUK Offshore Wind 2010. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn more about the wide range of SGS’s offshore wind energy services, which include, but are not limited to, Project Certification, Design Verification, Inspection, Testing, Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) Management and Risk Management.
The key objective of Risk Management provided by SGS is to ensure that any possible wind farm risks are reduced and any investment is secured throughout the whole wind farm project development.
Through Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) Management, SGS Renewable Energy Services optimize the lifecycle revenue generated by any wind farm project, by assuring high quality and safe practice during the project’s realization phase.
Furthermore, SGS offers Project Certification which helps to minimize the technical project risk by providing independent and site-specific assessment and certification of wind farm projects as well as the inspection and testing of critical components such as wind turbine blades, gearboxes and towers.
