Jeremy Sainsbury OBE, a Director at Natural Power, has been appointed to the board of Scottish Renewables.
This is Jeremy’s 20th year serving on the board, having previously served as chair (twice) and vice-chair. He is joined by two other new members; Andrew Lyle, managing director of Locogen, and Nicola Percival, senior regulatory affairs manager at RWE Renewables.
To set the strategic direction of the organisation, Scottish Renewables has 12 elected board members, each serving a three-year tenure. This year, twelve candidates from among Scottish Renewables’ 260 member companies contested the election, which concluded on 29th January 2021.
As an expert on policy, Jeremy brings an extensive understanding of the onshore wind sector, planning and grid, as well as knowledge of the economic development process.
He said: “There is a big job ahead of us to realise policy discussions such as reviewing the permitting process, the fourth National Planning Framework (NPF4) that will consider what Scotland should look like in 2050, setting out national planning policies and guiding where future development should take place, as well as grid policy including grid rules, charging and delivery.
“There is also a need to tie onshore wind to future industrial policy, and the requirement to build an offshore supply chain. It will be my mission as a board member to help drive forward the agenda on these key areas.”
