With the order for a mobilisation task for ”Seajacks Scylla”, Semco Maritime now strengthens its position further in the offshore wind industry. This strategically important scope of work will be completed at the dockyard in Esbjerg.
Semco Maritime will be granted the assignment of fabricate and installation of new sea fastening on “Scylla”, the world’s largest vessel for installation of offshore wind turbines. That became when Semco Maritime and Scylla’s owner, Seajacks, signed the agreement for a modification of the vessel’s deck with flexible sea-fastening’s device.
Semco Maritime is to construct a special module, which will render it possible to adapt “Scylla’s” freight deck to accommodate different sizes of towers and blades, which are to be safely transported to the assembly area under harsh weather conditions as well.
Seajacks has designed the solution, which is to be constructed on land and mounted on “Scylla” when she arrives in Esbjerg in November, explains Lars Skov, Head of Rig Projects at Semco Maritime.
