Schreiner offers specialized, high-performance labels for the solar industry

Southfield, MI – Schreiner ProTech is now marketing an array of specialized labels and identification-preparation equipment for solar panels and components. Drawing on its extensive solar product experience in Europe, Schreiner is now
aggressively seeking new customers in North America for its UL/CSA-approved solar labeling solutions.

The manufacturing of photovoltaic (PV) solar modules makes exacting demands of marking technology materials and systems.  Labels used for production control, track-and-trace, branding, and as power-rating and nameplates, must be able to permanently withstand extreme UV rays and weather conditions-many for the life of the PV module. In addition, they have to meet a number of legal requirements, such as UL and CSA standards.

Today, every single solar PV module is marked with an individual code for production control purposes and traceability. The code is applied in a clearly visible location at the front of the module, and must retain its legibility-even after years of exposure to UV radiation. Schreiner ProTech has developed an Embedded Label for this application. It is TTR-printable, dimensionally stable, and is applied directly to the ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA) sheet or a bus-bar of the solar module.

Schreiner Power Labels have to comply with exacting legal requirements. They mostly are applied to the back of a solar PV module, and contain rating data as well as nformation about the manufacturer. These safety-relevant nameplate labels use UL/CSA-approved materials, and–if required-integrate additional features that assure maximum, tamper-proof safety.

Manufacturers seeking reliable protection from product pirates require tamper and counterfeit-proof marking solutions, such as Module-Branding Labels by Schreiner ProTech. These labels use Color-Laser-Film (CLF), which is laminated Into the module. At the end of the process, the CLF label receives a laser inscription. This process step is performed through all the glass and plastic sheet layers of the solar PV module, producing zero emissions.

Schreiner ProTech is representing itself as a single source for solar labeling solutions. Smooth integration into the manufacturer’s production process is of paramount importance to the overall success of marking solutions, and the requirements are as varied as the processes themselves. As development partners, Schreiner’s experts advise and assist customers in the selection, installation and start-up of the components and systems required to process marking products.

All of Schreiner ProTech’s solutions for the solar industry have been awarded UL/CSA approvals. Plus, Schreiner ProTech has performed extensive material and durability tests exceeding the requirements of solar-specific standards. Turnkey equipment, which includes printers, applicators, software interfaces, scanners, dispensers, software and interface programming, also is available  from Schreiner.

The worldwide Schreiner organization produces air bag module covers and wraps, as well as manufacturing electronic venting systems, high-tech VIN labels and sets, specialized electronics labels, high-temperature labels, security labels, specialized labels for the medical/pharmaceutical field, insulation materials and RFID labels and tags for specialty applications. Warehousing and shipping presently are carried out from the U.S. location in the Detroit area.
