Responding to the launch of the Scottish Government’s Local Energy Policy Statement consultation, which sets out ambitions for the development of local energy systems;

Morag Watson, Director of Policy at Scottish Renewables, said: “We welcome the Scottish Government’s commitment to local energy systems which link the supply and demand of electricity, heat and transport to support the growth of vibrant, net-zero local economies.

“Renewable energy must lie at the heart of our transition to a decentralised and decarbonised energy system and Scotland’s renewable energy sector is already delivering locally-relevant energy solutions across the country.

“Scotland’s renewable energy sector will continue to engage to support the achievement of Scotland’s net-zero target and sustain its position at the forefront of the global clean energy industry, and this consultation is a step in that process.”
