-340 kilowatt solar plant on metal refiner’s roof feeds into the grid
-Solar plants make sense for companies in Austria
-Q CELLS modules impress with reliability and quality
[Thalheim, Germany / Hall in Tyrol, Austria, 11 September, 2014] – The recycling company RAGG GmbH from Austria has started operations of their new photovoltaic system with Q CELLS solar modules. The specialist in metal refinery feeds the PV system´s solar electricity into the grid. Europe’s largest photovoltaics provider, Hanwha Q CELLS, has delivered over 1,300 Q.PRO-G3 260 Watt solar modules for the plant. The rooftop installation with 340 kilowatts of power will produce around 330,000 kilowatt hours of solar energy every year. This corresponds to the annual demand of approximately 100 households. Tyrol’s photovoltaic market leader Tyrol PV Elektrotechnik GmbH was responsible for the planning and construction of the system which was installed in only three weeks.
PV plants make sense for industrial and commercial companies in Austria from a financial point of view. Moreover the PV system contributes to the companies’ sustainability strategies. “Our photovoltaic plant is sustainable,” says Petra Mussmann, Managing Director at the recycler RAGG. “On the one hand we get a guaranteed tariff for electricity fed in for 13 years. On the other hand we contribute to climate protection as solar electricity doesn’t generate carbone dioxide.”
In order to be economical over a period of 20 years, the solar system’s meticulous planning and installation is crucial. Next to the components, the system design, setup and risk management play equally important roles. “Due to the modules’ reliability and quality we have chosen Q CELLS solar modules,” says Armin Saxl, Managing Director at Tyrol PV Elektrotechnik. “And because of Hanwha Q CELLS´ position as the largest European photovoltaics provider.”
“We are glad about the successful PV project between RAGG, Tyrol PV and ourselves,” says Stefan Ailler, Key Account Manager Austria at Hanwha Q CELLS. The plant shows commercial and industrial companies that solar energy in Austria continues to pay off despite the difficult market climate involving limited incentive budget and decreasing feed-in tariffs. According to Michael Geib, Head of Sales for Germany, Austria and Switzerland at Hanwha Q CELLS, “The PV system underlines again that we consequently expand our rooftop business throughout Europe.”
