Progress in the construction of the integrated 71MW photovoltaic production facility in San Juan, Argentina


  • Opening of warehouse and office buildings
  • Delivery of the first systems of SCHMID Group has started January 12, 2015
  • Production of the first modules starting October 15, 2015

January 21, 2015, San Juan, Argentina – Freudenstadt, Germany. Following the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone on October 24, 2014 for the 71MW photovoltaic production facility for Argentine energy provider Energia Provincial Sociedad del Estado (EPSE), the SCHMID Group announces the opening of new warehouse and office facilities to support this project.

The office space features more than 280m² and the warehouse comprises 4,150m², both facilities are now open for business. As of January 12, 2015, the SCHMID Group began delivering the first systems for the planned production of ingots, wafers, solar cells and modules to San Juan. SCHMID Branch Argentina, founded in San Juan last year, provides spare parts and service support to the EPSE production facility. Technical personnel, engineers and administration staff will be sought-after from the local region to support this project in 2015.

James Gibbons, SCHMID’s On Site Manager of the large-scale project, emphasizes: “I am very pleased to participate in this landmark project of the energy supplier EPSE. The San Juan province plays an important pioneering role in the introduction of renewable energies in Argentina and throughout South America.”
