Premiere of Intersolar South America

Intersolar South America launches as an exhibition and conference event in São Paulo on September 18, 2013

São Paulo/Pforzheim/Freiburg, May 2, 2013 – Intersolar South America takes place in São Paulo, Brazil, for the first time from September 18-20. Following the successful launch of the Intersolar South America Summit conference last year, Intersolar is expanding its presence in Brazil. From 2013, Intersolar South America takes place annually as an exhibition and accompanying conference in the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo. Around 150 international exhibitors are expected to present the latest developments in the areas of photovoltaics, PV production technologies, energy storage systems and solar thermal technologies on an overall exhibition space of 7,000 square meters. During the three-day conference, 60 industry experts present developments in international solar markets to around 400 attendees, with the event focusing on the South American market in particular. The premiere of Intersolar South America allows the organizers of Intersolar to respond to the increasing significance of the South American solar market.

The South American and, in particular, Brazilian solar markets currently rank among the most exciting markets of the future worldwide. In 2012, the Brazilian government and the national electricity regulatory agency, the Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (ANEEL), took important steps towards expanding grid-connected photovoltaics. According to data from the ANEEL, project applications for photovoltaic systems with a total volume of almost one gigawatt (GW) had already been submitted in Brazil by the end of 2012.

The future of energy supply in South America
Many countries in South America are seeing dramatic increases in energy consumption of up to 30 per cent per year, chiefly as a result of industrial development. At the same time, in nations such as Brazil, solar power is currently on the brink of grid parity (the point at which solar power can be generated as cost effectively as power available on the free market). This development has resulted in new sales markets and attractive investment possibilities emerging.
Against this backdrop, Intersolar South America offers an ideal platform for international companies within the solar industry to showcase their latest technologies and exchange information about the most recent developments in the South American solar market. The aim of the exhibition and conference is to promote growth in the South American market and drive forward worldwide collaboration within the industry. As with all Intersolar events, and true to the motto Connecting Solar Business, the exchange of information with attending experts is given top priority. Company representatives, scientists and politicians from South America are able to learn at first hand which technologies and political strategies have proven successful internationally and which of them might be applied in their region.
