Munich/Bramming, July 05, 2021 – The integration of the Polytech ice detection system into Enercon wind turbines has been completed. This deep integration enables automatic stop and restart of wind turbines. The system is available both as a series product via the WTG manufacturers and for retrofitting the majority of Enercon’s turbine portfolio via Polytech. Increased yield and reduced downtime for the coming winter can still be realized by timely ordering.
Reliable and field-proven systems
Satisfied customers worldwide already use Polytech sensor systems on more than 1,000 wind turbines and benefit from significant optimizations in operation. The design life of the robust, fiber-optic rotor blade sensor technology on which these Polytech solutions are based is built to last more than 25 years.
“The reliability and performance of the Polytech ice detection system are outstanding in our wind farms. The systems will already be amortized in our wind farm Kreuzstetten in the 2nd winter.”
Dieter Schreiber, Head of Monitoring and Innovation, Windkraft Simonsfeld AG”.
Additional functionality
In addition to the DNV-GL certified ice detection, rotor-based condition monitoring can be activated as a software upgrade on the same hardware basis. This extended functionality does not require any additional hardware or extra installation effort.
Flexible payment models and their added value
In the retrofit business, customer-specific services are offered in addition to the pure hardware of the ice detection system. This means that the system remains up to date, is monitored and the customer benefits from future improvements and upgrades.
