P-MEC 2014: teamtechnik will be presenting production system platforms capable of taking on challenges ranging from start-up to high-speed manufacturing of medical devices

As an example of the high production rates that can be achieved, teamtechnik will present its compact RTS production system, for assembly and testing, on Stand 1B53 in Hall 1. Its technically perfected new design makes it ideal for GMP-compliant production of medical devices. Even when running at high output, the production system platform runs quietly, with very little vibration. Up to 120 cycles per minute and an availability of 98 percent can be achieved.

Over 100 million cycles without part replacement
“The RTS system achieves positioning accuracy of plus/minus 0.05 millimeters and run-out accuracy of plus/minus 0.03 millimeters, making it the perfect base system for production systems in precision applications such as joining and function testing processes or ultrasonic welding,” explains Ulrich Traffa, Sales Manager at the teamtechnik Group. Even when working at its fastest cycle time, teamtechnik promises the system will have a long working life and be extremely energy efficient: The production system is cam-controlled, and so uses only half the energy needed by pneumatically-controlled systems. Generally, a part will last for more than 100 million cycles before it needs to be replaced.

Expert development of automation processes
teamtechnik has used its process development expertise to develop the RTS and Teamed platforms for assembly and function testing processes. These platforms provide solutions ranging from proof of principle production to high-speed production. The company specializes in systems for producing injection, diagnosis and dialysis systems, inhalers, contact lenses, and plastic medical assemblies. “We have a comprehensive process portfolio and provide solutions to challenging assembly tasks such as dosing processes, needle separation or function testing, and the measurement of extremely low values such as torques in the 0.001 Nm range,” says Ulrich Traffa.

Uninterrupted feed, even at more than 120 cycles per minute
Since 2013, teamtechnik has also been developing and assembling feed systems in-house, at its own competence center. These systems are designed to be part of the overall machine concept, and guarantee reliable, uninterrupted feed, which in turn ensures maximum production output.
