Leader in perovskite PV presents Generation 3 perovskite-silicon tandem prototype alongside HAPS solution, highlighting progress in efficiency, operational lifetime and high-performance specialty applications

OXFORD, UK / Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany – 23 JUNE 2026 – Oxford Photovoltaics Limited (“Oxford PV”), a pioneer in perovskite photovoltaic (PV) technology, today presented its latest innovations for both mainstream and specialty applications at The smarter E Europe / Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich.

At the exhibition, the company is showcasing three distinct proof points of how perovskite-silicon tandem technology is progressing toward broader market impact: its latest Generation 3 (Gen-3) prototype for mainstream applications, a High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) solution for specialty applications, and an innovative shingled tandem module concept, highlighting the smooth integration of tandem technology in existing and upcoming module architectures.

Headquartered in Oxford, UK, with manufacturing in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany, Oxford PV develops high-efficiency tandem solar solutions designed to deliver higher energy yield compared to conventional silicon technology. With a portfolio of over 400 granted patents in perovskite PV, the company is at the forefront of commercialising perovskite-based tandem solar.

For mainstream solar applications, higher efficiency translates into more energy generated from the same footprint, lowering the cost of electricity and improving project economics. Oxford PV’s Gen 3 prototype will deliver 26% module efficiency with a 15-year lifetime, in line with the company’s product roadmap. Operational lifetime is a critical requirement for commercial deployment, and a key area where Oxford PV is continuing to advance and lead.

“Solar is entering a new phase, where the next gains will come not just from higher efficiency, but from technologies that can deliver both greater value and long-term performance at scale,” said David Ward, CEO at Oxford PV. “What we are showing at Intersolar reflects that shift. From our Generation 3 prototype to new product formats, we are demonstrating clear progress in bringing next-generation perovskite PV to market and delivering against our roadmap toward 30% efficiency and 30-year lifetime by the end of this decade.”

In specialty applications such as HAPS and satellites, where power-to-weight performance, adaptability and reliable operation in demanding environments are critical, perovskite-silicon tandem technology can offer clear advantages.

Oxford PV’s HAPS solution harnesses the superior efficiency of its HyPERcell technology in an ultralightweight module design. The resulting product is higher performance than conventional silicon products, and more cost-effective than GaAs-based products, enabling longer missions at more locations with a cost and availability suited for mass adoption.

“Specialty markets, such as HAPS, are a strong fit for perovskite-silicon tandem technology,” Ed Crossland, CTO of Oxford PV said. “The combination of high power-to-weight performance, adaptability and reliable performance in demanding environments makes tandem solar the best solution in many cases for these rapidly growing markets, where performance constraints are high and conventional technologies are more limited.”

Together, the products on display at Intersolar show how perovskite-silicon tandem technology can create value across solar markets: higher energy yield and lower electricity costs in mainstream deployment, differentiated performance for specialty applications, and the flexibility to be implemented in a range of module designs. With continued progress in operational lifetime and product architecture, Oxford PV is advancing tandem solar towards broader commercial deployment while opening new markets and improving existing use cases.
